1. Confidential counselor Trengo makes sure that victims can first share their claims with a confidential person within the company. Besides the people team and the managers, we have a confidential counselor. This person is a trained and certified person according to the lvv (’landelijke vereniging vertrouwenspersonen’). Their role is to hear the problem and exchange ideas about potential solutions while keeping all the information confidential. The solutions can be in the informal sphere or it can concern the handling of the complaint by a complaints committee. A second important role of confidential counsel is to provide assistance with the steps taken by the employee.

  2. Mental health support If needed, the people team will provide help with finding the right psychological support for the victim. For instance, we suggest reaching out to Slachtofferhulp (Support for victims). They offer support in both Dutch and English.

    Other options are:

  3. Committee will take the claim seriously from the start Doubts and fear can come when reporting an incident or even a crime. Trengo will have as a priority to make sure the victim feels taken seriously. Although the victim has the option to resolve the issue informally by discussing it with the alleged party, they always have the option to file a formal complaint from the start, and the committee will treat the claim seriously from the first instance. They will leave the decision of potential disciplinary actions to the results of the (internal or external) investigation.

  4. Follow-up talk The people team will schedule a talk with the victim to make sure the complaint didn’t have repercussions on the victim’s quality of working life (there was no retaliation) after the procedure is closed.

  5. Make sure you have support outside Trengo. With the victim’s permission, the people team will get in contact with the victim’s emergency contact or another person of choice and share information on how they can help and /or invite them to formal meetings.
